Whitewash Embossed Sunflowers

I’ve been on an embossing kick lately (I just love the result), and on this one, I decided to color the embossed image with a whitewash technique.  This is a cool technique, but using a dark cardstock makes it so much more dramatic.

I used the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set as I was looking for a large image. The card base and card front are Blackberry Bliss, and the mat layer and tag are Basic White.  I scattered a few Rhinestone Jewels on the card because . . . well, why not?!

The sunflowers were inked with Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  That tone on tone was beautiful on its own, but with the whitewash technique, it became spectacular!  I inked up a stamp block with White Craft ink and with a water pen, I colored/painted each of the flower petals.  See the video below for more details.

The tag is die cut from  Tasteful Labels die set.  It was stamped with a sentiment from the Sweet Strawberry set and inked in Blackberry Bliss.
