Making “Ombre” Background Paper

I needed a baby card for a co-worker, but I didn’t have any baby patterned paper. So . . . I decided to make my own. The technique is a sponging technique, but the result looks kind of like an ombre technique.

The card base is Fresh Freesia; the mat is Basic White, die cut using a die from the Scalloped Contours set. The card front was made by sponging Fresh Freesia (see the video below for instructions).

The top right side of the card features the teddy bear from the All for Baby stamp set. He was stamped in Crumb Cake and die cut using the Baby Clothes dies. The bow is from the same stamp set – stamped in Fresh Freesia and die cut from the same die set. The teddy bear was attached with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “BABY” was die cut from the Playful Alphabets die set. The letters were cut in Basic White and layered with Fresh Freesia( see video below for layering instructions).

The right side of the card features the word “hello” from the Biggest Wish set. It was heat embossed in white. The card was finished off with the beautiful Open Weave Ribbon in Fresh Freesia.

The inside of the card features a two sentiments from the All for Baby set.
